Parenting of a Teenager: Is it easy or tough?

Arrival of a child in a couple's life is like entering into a joyride where the couple gets a new name that is "Parents". The act of taking care of a child is called parenting. The definition is  quite simple but the actual action of this word "Parenting" is pretty difficult.

I am going to write a series of my parenting of a teenage boy throughout this February. I am not an expert and not even a great parent but yes, by using simple tricks and little sacrifice makes my parenting easy.

I have a boy whose age is 13 years, which means he has entered into a new phase of life. This new phase is little difficult for him to understand because he doesn't know that his hormones are changing. This change has brought new changes in his body and in his behaviour. I was observing him from last six months, he was getting annoyed, facing lack of confidence and concentration. Sometimes he doesn't like to spend time with us. I was observing him and tried a few ways to make him understand but all failed. Now What to do?

I was very much concerned about him. He was getting weak in studies, getting  addicted of mobile games and watching cartoons. His rigid nature was disturbing us. Then I opted a few things which gave me a ray of hope.  I was happy that my little effort was able to bring some changes in him.

In my next post I will share that trick which I have applied on him.

  6. I think if we can go back in time and remember our teenage or behaviour, we can understand them. the behaviour we expected from our parents, if we can provide them, will make a little help. And of course add a little newness to fill the generation gap..

  12. It happens to all teenagers. Their behaviour becomes erratic but doesnt mean you let them be that way. Do keep communication open all the time. Once that is lost then everything is lost.

  17. Teenage is a critical age where children want to be treated as adults but also as kids. Talk to your son and just let him know you are there whatever happens.

  26. Well, kids turned teenagers definitely go through an emotional turmoil as the body changes internally and externally. It is also a difficult time for parents, as communication gets a little tough with teenagers. I am looking forward to read your next post to know how you are dealing with this.
